Networking

Project Overview:

This project involved developing a comprehensive network plan for a growing organization with an immediate need for a new building and plans for expansion to four additional locations within three years. The focus was on creating a scalable and efficient network infrastructure, considering various aspects like IP addressing, DHCP allocation, VPN implementation, and wireless security measures.

Methodology:

  • Analyzed and planned IP addressing schemes for scalability and efficient resource allocation across multiple sites.
  • Designed DHCP plans to streamline and organize IP address allocation, enhancing network manageability.
  • Selected and configured a site-to-site IPSec tunnel VPN, considering its advantages in compatibility and network-layer operation.
  • Implemented robust wireless security measures, balancing security enhancements with administrative and cost considerations.

Challenges Faced:

  • Tailoring a network plan to accommodate both current needs and future expansion in a rapidly evolving organizational landscape.
  • Balancing the technical ideal of network design with practical considerations of budget, scalability, and administrative overhead.
  • Implementing cutting-edge wireless security measures while ensuring compatibility with a range of devices and user needs.

Results:

  • Successfully created a detailed network plan that caters to immediate requirements and future growth, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
  • Established a clear and organized DHCP structure, aiding in effective network management and expansion.
  • Implemented a secure and efficient VPN solution, enhancing connectivity and security across multiple sites.
  • Advanced the organization’s wireless network security, providing a robust and future-proof wireless environment.
